We will be joined by the director, He Shuming, who was nominated for Best New Director at the recent Golden Horse Awards in Taipei via Zoom, and producer Anthony Chen will join us in-person for a post-screening Q&A.
Anthony Chen is Singapore's most decorated filmmaker. He exploded onto the scene in 2013 with his debut feature, Ilo Ilo, depicting the struggles of domestic helpers in Singapore, winning the prestigious Camera D'Or award at the Cannes Film Festival for first feature film, as well as the Best Screenplay and Best New Director awards at the 50th Golden Horse Awards. Ilo Ilo also took home the award for Best Feature Film, winning out over films by established auteurs as Wong Kar Wai, Tsai Ming Liang, Jia Zhangke, and Johnny To.
