The Department of English takes pride in its MAES programme, which provides a professional education leading to a wide range of opportunities open to English studies specialists. In addition, the programme provides a strong foundation for those wishing to embark on PhD research in many areas of English studies.

Taught by an experienced team of faculty members, the programme is known for its state-of-the-art courses informed by the latest research in various domains of English studies. Students attending the programme have the flexibility to build their own study plan. They have the option of pursuing the stream of Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) or the stream of Literature, Language and Culture (LLC). They can also stay on the General Track by taking courses from both the TESL and the LLC streams.
