Clinical handover is the process of transferring information and responsibility about a patient from one clinician to another. It is a crucial moment for ensuring patient safety and continuity of care. However, it is also fraught with challenges, such as time pressure, language barriers, cultural differences, and human errors. These challenges can lead to miscommunication, misunderstanding, and missed opportunities for improving patient outcomes.
The purpose of this conference is to bring together researchers, practitioners, and experts from various disciplines and regions to share their insights and best practices on how to enhance health communication during clinical handover.
This conference is jointly organized by the School of Nursing at Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the Department of English at the City University of Hong Kong, with the generous support from the Hospital Authority (Nursing). We have invited renowned speakers (including academics, practitioners, and experts) from various regions, including Hong Kong, Mainland China, Southeast Asia, Australia, Europe, and the US, to share their insights and experiences on health communication.
