The New Frontiers in Professional Communication Lab (NFPC), housed within the Department of English at the City University of Hong Kong, is the culmination of a 35-year-old legacy of excellence in professional communication driven by world-class researchers and collaboration with professionals. The NFPC seeks to nurture and advance frontier research, fostering collaboration with industry partners and the professional world, in order to promote and grow knowledge transfer in new areas.
Goals
The lab has three primary goals:
To undertake scientific research that pushes the boundaries of professional communication (e.g., new ways of working; new methodologies; new research topics).
To promote knowledge transfer by sharing our research findings with the wider community, ensuring that our work has a meaningful impact beyond academia.
To act as an intelligence aggregator on the latest professional communicative trends and influence the wider academic and executive education agenda.
Vision
The NFPC is committed to advancing ground-breaking research, promoting collaboration with industry and facilitating knowledge transfer in the field of professional communication. By bridging the gap between academia and the professional world, we aim to create a platform where academics and professionals can exchange ideas, develop best practices, and shape the future of effective communication in the workplace.
Mission
The mission of the NFPC is to create a platform that brings together academics and professionals to engage in meaningful exchange throughout all stages of the research cycle (from ideation to dissemination). By working closely with industry partners and a global network of academics, the NFPC ultimately aims to use its research to create continuing education and training programs for working professionals, as well as young aspiring professionals.
