In Memoriam
Y-Dang Troeung
We are saddened by the loss of our former colleague, Dr Y-Dang Troeung, who held the role of Assistant Professor in the Department of English from 2012 to 2018. Y-Dang was an inspirational teacher, a gifted scholar, and a beloved colleague and friend.
While at City University of Hong Kong, Y-Dang demonstrated passion and dedication as an educator, winning the Teaching Excellence Award in 2014/15. Her scholarly work has made an important contribution to critical refugee studies, transnational Asian literatures, transpacific Cold War studies, and critical disability studies. The body of work that she left behind, including her recently published Refugee Lifeworlds: The Afterlife of the Cold War in Cambodia (2022), has demonstrated her insight, thoughtfulness, and commitment to the lived experiences of the refugee communities.
